Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Therapy Dogs of America! We are always eager to have therapy dog teams join us in giving back to the communities we serve.
In order to become a therapy dog team, you will need to complete the following steps:
Step 1: APPLY – Complete the volunteer application below and we will be in contact with you.
Step 2: TRAINING – Sign Up for a Training Session. Santa Barbara classes are held at Santa Barbara Humane – Training Contact Info. (If you are an experienced team or believe you are ready to evaluate, please contact us to discuss bypassing the training class.)
Step 3: EVALUATION – Schedule a Therapy Dog Evaluation. (Please download our Therapy Dog Evaluation to review our test requirements).
Step 4: TB TEST AND BACKGROUND CHECK – Depending on where you live, we will provide appropriate information to help with this step
